So we're winding down to the end of 2015 and wow has this year flown by. Usually, now is the time where everyone is getting their mindset adjusted to a new year, with new expectations and new goals to set their eyes upon. But before 2015 scurries right along, have we truly taken the time to reflect on everything that has taken place in our lives thus far?
With the new year vastly approaching, so too are the changes and transitions that comes along with them.
In October, I decided to take a long look at a lot of the changes that were going on within my own life. And instead of just going through my regularly scheduled routine, I decided to take sometime away from everything and everyone. This included a complete total mental fast.
I anticipated a lot of changes were going to happen right before the new year, so I wanted to give myself time to really relax, relate, release and regroup for the unknown chapters of what lied ahead of me. I'm glad I actually gave myself this time and space to do so because nothing could've prepared me for what was about to take place.
I decided to cut off communication with almost everyone outside of my mother and 1-2 prayer warrior girlfriends. No phone calls. No text messages. No social media - outside of that for Hey Mz. Lady. In essence, it was just me, God, my bible and my thoughts.
I'll be honest with you, I had no clue what I was doing. I just knew God had something big in store for me and I had to be open to whatever His will was for my life.
Little did I know just one week into my fast, I would be quitting my job - with a heavy/very emotional heart - and landing a new one soon after. Not only that, I ended up being able to volunteer for a conference that literally changed my entire outlook for my business and parts of my personal life connecting to women from all over the country. And lastly, I was able to be in a position of restoring old relationships, while at the same time coming to terms with that fact I had outgrown others in the process.
Yea a lot can happen in a matter of just one month... This is especially the case when you truly allow God to lead your path along the way.
But with the roller coaster of events taking place thus far, I find it ironic that it all took place right before the new year begins.
It is as though God is decluttering out my life of old mindsets, old routines and old concepts of what is acceptable and replacing them with new standards.
I must say although the growing pains are somewhat overwhelming and bit uncomfortable, it's also exciting and hopeful of things to come.
You see, when we indeed find ourselves in the middle of a transition or starting over, it requires us to change the way we think and redirect our attention to a brand new perspective. Sometimes these changes are subtle and move at a nice pace. Other times, it's a matter of holding onto your seat as tightly as possible and enduring the turbulence.
Is this an easy task?
But is it necessary?
More than likely, yes.
Too often, many of us wait for the new year to begin to make the proper changes in our lives. We carry on the notion maybe circumstances will be better with a "fresh start" in the year... But what if we actually took the time to phase out things that no longer served us purpose anymore before the new year began? Imagine starting 2016 on a fresh note refusing to carry baggage from 2015 with you in the new year.
Better yet, what about implementing new mindsets, healthy behaviors and preparation for 2016 goals now before we even say good bye to 2015 in the first place...
Either way, by decluttering the old or implementing the new, we can begin to embrace our change and transitions to set ourselves in a better position to hit the ground running come January 1st!
Within this year alone, the personal theme for Hey Mz. Lady has been faith. This includes stepping out into the unknown in faith, having faith in the process, having faith in journey and ultimately having faith we will find ourselves with the true desires of our hearts.
Along the way, many of our faith's has been tested. But what I do believe is that is has allowed us to grow and become better from each interaction. With this being the case, should show us that we are destined to win in 2016 either way!!!!
Until next time ladies, stay beautiful, blessed and divinely favored!
