Too many times we allow people, circumstances, even worse ourselves to get in the way of chasing after our destiny.
Now when I speak about destiny, I'm not just talking about a dream career. I'm talking about life as a whole. This includes our careers, our families, our friendships, our hopes for love, our dreams, our spiritual well being, our mental well being and yes of course our physical well being also.
Sometimes we seriously just get lazy and rest on our laurels instead of being tenacious and going after what we truly desire or even know is ours.
One of my favorite quotes states, no masterpiece was ever created by a lazy artist.
This is so true.
No one ever achieved greatness by just watching others or hoping/praying things would miraculously come together for them. No, that's considered laziness at its finest!
Often time we hide behind a lot of smoking mirrors including talking a great game versus actually working towards the desires of our hearts.
I use to be this person. To be honest, I still am sometimes. I have to intentionally remind myself on a daily what kind of life do I really want and is what I'm doing now helping me to achieve those goals. Maybe you need to self assess as well.
How long will you allow yourself to stay in dead-end relationships, unfulfilling careers, poor self-care habits, living up to the expectations of others and a plethora of many things stand in your way of achieving the life you really want?
Sometimes it is the familiarity of complacency that keeps us stagnated.
We get comfortable with settling for less than we deserve. Better yet, a good friend of mine stated we like not having to answer to the accountability piece.
With expectations comes being accountable for excelling in various aspects of our lives and being held to a higher standard. It is the fear of being successful that scare us most than failure itself.
I stated in my last piece, Redefining the New You, that often I have to remind my clients that the behaviors of a victims no longer fits their lifestyle when they become a survivor. The same applies with this concept of letting go of lazy behaviors.
When you realize who you are and what you are called to be, settling for just mediocrity should never feel comfortable no matter how many times you try to convince yourself!
When you know better, you should do better. When you take the time to know more about yourself, you should also take the time to do right by yourself.
So many times we wait for the right time, the right person, the right whatever to come along and validate what we already know. We waste precious time in waiting, that we forget that the actual work of doing will enable us to live our maximum life's potential across the board!
Love big and hard, don't walk literally run after your dreams, do your due diligence, prepare accordingly for life's many opportunities, have fun and embrace the disappointments along the way, but never sell yourself short by just being plan lethargic and unmotivated to make things happen for yourself. You are better than that! As a matter of fact, there are too many resources out there for you not to get to where you ultimately want to be…
Everyone starts from some where whether good, bad or indifferent backgrounds. But only a select few boldly declares what they want and even fewer of those actually goes out to get it.
Which end of the spectrum do you want to fall under? The choice is always up to you. But I promise you staying lazy, fearful or unwilling to make changes will never get you there one way or the other.
As always ladies, stay beautiful, blessed and divinely favored!
