So I have this simple belief I live by. Nothing major or even too clinical, but something that helps me put things into clarity for me. I typically pray first in most major decision, then follow up with a simple exercise I like to call Head, Heart and Gut. It pretty much entails checking in within myself in three main areas of my life when I'm making a decision or assessing a situation in general to help me navigate within my overall journey.
Our Head for staters is the part of us that always attempts to make logic out of everything. Let's call it, our personal data processing center. It computes experiences we have encountered, assess how circumstances will or have played out in our journey, remind us of past positive or negative outcomes we've faced and looks at things from the standpoint of what makes the most sense.
Our Heart is setup quite differently. The Heart takes into account everything our Head typically does not process well which would be our emotions. Our Heart reveals our truest desires, what we love, sincere emotions and tries to lead from a place of understanding.
And last but certainly not least, we have our Gut. Our Gut is the one thing that never lies to us. It's gives us the best guidance and direction, but is often ignored for those very same reasons.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Throughout much of 2016, I've had to use this exercise quite often. Paired with prayer and faith, I can truly say it has been the constant help in keeping me sane throughout the year.
I wonder what would happen if many of us incorporated this same concept into our everyday lives? Where people allowed their Gut - which is ultimately hearing God at the most easiest and purest form - to guide them in their everyday lives... It's not to say you don't take into consideration your Head or Heart because every situation is different. But think of the amazing possibilities that could transform your entire life just by allowing your Gut to lead you.
Your personal life would flourish. Your professional life could take off just by excelling in your own lane. Your relationships maybe easier to maintain or even discard is some cases. But most importantly, you would be operating in your Divine Alignment that God has set before you.
Doesn't that sound like an amazing life?!
I dare you to be still and truly assess any particular situations you've been struggling with lately. Start off in prayer and then go through each category giving them the adequate timing to process everything. When you get to your Gut however, sit in what is being revealed to you. Notice how you feel. Notice in what direction it's leading you towards. Then begin to consider what’s the best course of action because at this point it's time to move!
2017 will be the year of walking in your alignment versus trying to discover ways to get there...
