So I spent the day with a good girlfriend of mine simply eating, laughing and reminiscing over everything that has taken place within this year. It was so refreshing. No social media, no constantly checking our phones, just two friends simply being present with one another with ZERO distractions.
I miss good times like these because in my world getting the chance to get me and my friends together to sit and do anything seems nearly impossible nowadays. We all have pretty busy lives, but when we get the chance to really catch up it seems as though times flies by and we are so eager to soak up every minute with each other.
When was the last time you did this for yourself?
During the end of every year, everyone is in a state of reflection. We think about everything we tried to accomplish and everything we weren't able to accomplish. We think about goals for the future and maybe even make promises to ourselves that we will do better in the new year ahead. But I'm a firm believer that taking time to reflect should be done throughout the year and not just towards the end.
How about we make a promise to ourselves that in 2017, we will take the time to sit back, relax and actually reflect throughout the entire year in order to ensure that 2017 truly is our greatest year yet?
There are great benefits to intentionally reflecting throughout the year. Some of these includes helping us to realize what may help or could be hindering our journeys, connecting with others that help us to enjoy & be mindful of the present, taking inventory on how far we have come, yet recognize the work that is still ahead. In addition, it will require us to be still in order for our Heavenly Father to speak specifically to our souls to be one, at peace and get clear direction from Him personally as well.
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
I can't tell you how much I've thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from reflecting with you ladies over this now 30 day journey. Like any good therapist would say, I can't ask my clients to do something I myself am not willing to do. So opening up to you ladies in one of my most vulnerable years ever has been an absolute pleasure, a freeing experience and helpful to my own journey leading into 2017.
We only have exactly one day left before January 1, 2017 is here.
How are you making the most of this time of reflection?!?!
